Posted: 1/16/2023 4:02:17 PM EDT. [#4] One of the comments made in that video is that the FT-DX10's A/D is "audio grade" as opposed to the "much more expensive A/D" in the 710. I'm still puzzled over the advantage of one technology over the other. The DX10 seems to be the better radio now, but perhaps a firmware update in the 710 could really make it awesome. If I were looking to buy today, I certainly think the FT-710 would offer excellent value compared to either the FTDX-10 or the IC-7300. There have been several firmware updates with the FT-710 that have addressed initial release bugs and current pricing would make it a very tempting holiday gift for someone. The ring allows control of SUB VFO frequency dial, VC-TUNE, Clarifier and C/S (custom select function). The MPVD is a handy dial that allows you to adjust important functions in ever-changing HF communications without taking your hand off the VFO. Yaesu makes the three different watt level versions for the Japanese license class in the FTDX10. ( Yes, button/dial layout and menu system are valid reasons to go with the 7300 instead ) Perhaps a good product for Icom to develop would be an HF/VHF/UHF amplifier one could pair up with the IC-705.The size of the FTdx10 is 266 x 91 x 263mm (10.5 x 3.6 x 10.4in) and it weighs in at 5.9kg (13.0lbs).
